Why my pinky toenail grow thick⁉️
Nov 02, 2024
A person’s age is not a factor in the pinky toenails, or any nails, that may grow thick
Despite what we’ve heard that older people (like senior citizens) toenails are more likely to grow thick, that would qualify me -almost 42 years of age with a thick toenail- for those senior benefits and discounts!!! Yeah right 😆.If you heard that before from any source such as me in this video when I shared my ugly feet before my finished result, here is a bit of facts to that:
Reasons your toenails may grow thick are determined by nutrition, exercise, and your general health. Nothing per se age, can make the nail plate grow thicker.
If your nail grows thicker towards the free edge, it’s because the matrix of your nail is longer. If the free edge of your nail grows a lot more curved than normal, it’s because the matrix is curved.
I anticipate the question popping up in your head, what is this matrix you talking about? The matrix is one of the parts of the onyx. Onyx means nail.
👀Watch this video showing a visual of how a particular matrix looks like even though the matrix isn’t a visible part of the structure of the onyx.
Yeah, your nail is a complex structure that consist of many parts just like the body of Christ has many members that work together to fulfill the purpose.
Each part of the nail plays a crucial role in its growth and health. The matrix is essentially the nail's growth center, where new cells are produced. These cells eventually harden and form the nail plate as they push forward.
Additionally, factors such as genetics, injuries, and certain medical conditions can also influence nail thickness. For instance, fungal infections, known as onychomycosis, are a common cause of thickened nails. This is why maintaining good hygiene and keeping your feet clean and dry is essential. Another very common disease common in people is diabetes. Thick toenails are a symptom of diabetes because of the reduced blood flow to nails. Without nutrients and adequate blood flow to the nails, the matrix of the nail can’t properly produce new nail cells to grow pass the fingertips so some women can go clickety clack.
Remember, if you're concerned about changes in your nail health or appearance, it's always a good idea to consult a healthcare professional or a podiatrist. They can provide personalized advice and treatment options to ensure your nails remain healthy and strong. It is outside the average nail tech scope of practice to do anything beyond maintaining the health and beauty of the nails with manicuring and pedicuring. The term manicure and pedicure simply means- The care of your hands and feet.
